Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Janelle Gyampo and Molly Sather Lead St. Mary's to Victory

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but St. Mary ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Durham Academy Cavaliers 47-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since December 3, 2024.

Leading St. Mary's to victory were Molly Sather and Janelle Gyampo. Sather posted 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Gyampo dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Sather a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Marshall Rankin, who scored five points.

St. Mary's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-6. As for Durham Academy, they dropped their record down to 9-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
