Basketball Recap: Maya Kinson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakewood Presbyterian over Faustina Academy

Lakewood Presbyterian played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Faustina Academy Falcons, falling 48-24. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly 24 points.

Lakewood Presbyterian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Kinson, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Kinson has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Zoeh Kinson was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Faustina Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Libby Harold, who earned 11 points. What's more, Harold also racked up four rebounds, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Debora Solorzano, who had 12 points.

Lakewood Presbyterian has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Faustina Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Lakewood Presbyterian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-35 defeat against Trinity Christian Academy on the 20th. Faustina Academy has also already played their next contest (against Lakehill Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
