Football Game Preview: Eastside Ghosts vs. East Orange Campus Jaguars

The Eastside Ghosts will head out to challenge the East Orange Campus Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while East Orange Campus will come in with six straight victories.

Eastside came into this matchup off a tough 20-point loss last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Passaic by a score of 16-14 on Friday. Despite 135 more yards than the Indians, the Ghosts couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Eastside might have lost, but man, David Gonzalez was a machine: he rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 180 yards on 13 of 22 attempts.

Meanwhile, East Orange Campus was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Bloomfield 34-6. Fans of the Jaguars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

East Orange Campus' win came from a few key players Eastside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyshawn Sewell, who rushed for 119 yards and one score. Those 119 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jaleel Halsey was another key player, rushing for 70 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

East Orange Campus' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Eastside was taken down by East Orange Campus 41-3 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Ghosts, Sa'eed Cole (who threw for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 62 yards on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time.
