Baseball Recap: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Saint James Saints

Georgetown Day extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-8. They lost 11-2 to the Saint James Saints. The Mighty Hoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Caleb Broomfield was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lawson Massey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Saint James, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

On Saint James' side, James Reinhardt was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Reinhardt has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Calvin Moss was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Saint James is undefeated when Moss posts two or more runs, but 2-8-1 otherwise. Lucas 'Luke' Brutcher was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Georgetown Day will take on DC International at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint James, they will face off against Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.6 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
