Basketball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

Sparta and DeForest squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Sparta had to settle for second. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DeForest Norskies. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Norskies are ranked 110th).

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for DeForest, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: DeForest beat Sparta by a score of 49-39 later that day.
