Softball Recap: Page Takes a Loss

If Page was feeling good fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Window Rock last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sand Devils fell just short of the Chinle Wildcats by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Sand Devils have suffered since February 28th.

Makenna Nez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Shanelle Tallsalt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Page moved to 9-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Chinle, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Coming up, Page will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Monument Valley at 3:00 p.m. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.18 runs per game on average), something the Sand Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chinle, they will venture away from home to take on St. Johns at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season.
