Softball Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss

Eastern fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Peebles on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The Eagles have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Leah Rader spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Lynnleigh McCollister made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Peebles, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Peebles, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Manchester at 11:00 a.m.
