Basketball Recap: Karnes City Badgers vs. Luling Eagles

Karnes City suffered their closest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Luling Eagles by a score of 53-51. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Badgers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-50 on January 10th.

Despite the loss, Karnes City still got an impressive performance from Savion Nixon-Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. Andrew Crow was another key player, putting up five points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Karnes City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Luling only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Luling got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Flores out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Flores has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braecyn Spencer, who went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Karnes City and nudges their season record down to 15-13. As for Luling, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Karnes City will take on Goliad at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Karnes City is facing Goliad at the right time seeing as Goliad is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Luling, they will face off against Nixon-Smiley at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Luling is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
