Basketball Recap: Manzano Comes Up Short

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Capital Jaguars, falling 83-52. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-53 back in January.

Loss or not, Manzano got some senior leadership from Bryce Johnson and Eduardo Laguna. Johnson posted 15 points and eight boards, while Laguna shot 75% from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Laguna has scored all season.

Manzano's record now sits at 7-18. As for Capital, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-17.

Looking ahead, Manzano will be playing at home against La Cueva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs' defense better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 61 points per game this season. As for Capital, they will face off against Eldorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Golden Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.79 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
