Basketball Recap: Loving Comes Up Short

Loving was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Jal Panthers 62-25. The Falcons were down 52-22 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Loving lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Arahy Franco, who posted eight points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

Jal found their leader in sophomore Mayrin Nieto, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Nieto also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Jal is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 7-13 otherwise. Natalia Rivera was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Loving's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Jal, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13.

Loving has already played their next game, a 62-23 defeat against Tatum on the 14th. As for Jal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-39 loss against Eunice on the 14th.
