Basketball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Horizon Science Academy Hawks

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will be taking part in a tournament against the Horizon Science Academy Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Johnstown-Monroe will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Johnstown-Monroe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They secured a 77-73 W over Newark Catholic on Friday. Given the Johnnies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Green Wave are ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Horizon Science Academy came up short against New Hope Christian Academy on Saturday and fell 75-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (63), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Johnstown-Monroe will need to focus on slowing down Michael Amusan, one of several Horizon Science Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 13 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Boanu, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points.

Johnstown-Monroe pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Horizon Science Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
