Volleyball Recap: Piedra Vista Takes a Loss

Piedra Vista lost against Monument Valley back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Mustangs. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Piedra Vista had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-27, 25-21, 25-20.

Niyeli Walker-Collins paced Piedra Vista's offense, picking up 13 kills. Walker-Collins got some help from Kinzley Verhulst and her 38 assists. Verhulst was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Piedra Vista now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Piedra Vista will be taking part in a tournament against Aztec at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monument Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Farmington on the 2nd.
