Baseball Recap: Norwell Find Success

Norwell came out on top against Westview on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Knights took their contest against the Warriors 6-2.

Noah Schamerloh made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Jolley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Garry Riley was another key player, earning two RBI and one stolen base.

Norwell's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Westview, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-11 record.

Looking ahead, Norwell will challenge Fairfield at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Westview, they will take on Elkhart at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.8, the Lions 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
