Softball Game Preview: Ore City Rebels vs. Waskom Wildcats

Ore City has gone 6-1 against Waskom recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rebels will venture away from home to challenge the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Ore City is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Ore City lost 13-4 to Overton on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly nine runs.

Kayla Peckham and Kylieann Humphrey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Peckham scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Humphrey went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Peckham is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Waskom had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Elysian Fields 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 1st.

The team relied heavily on Jada Spencer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maci Barbo, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Waskom's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Ore City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15-1.

Ore City took their win against Waskom when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 16-4 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
