Softball Recap: Chaska Hawks vs. Eastview Lightning
Chaska won the last time they faced Eastview and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hawks walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Lightning. The win was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Allana Benoit was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Benoit was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Iyla Branch was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was her first of the season. Laney Farm was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Chaska's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Eastview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaska will host New Prague at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastview, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lakeville South at 4:30 p.m.
