Basketball Game Preview: Valor College Prep Wildcats vs. Hume-Fogg Blue Knights

The Valor College Prep Wildcats will take on the Hume-Fogg Blue Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Valor College Prep has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Hume-Fogg will arrive with four straight victories.

Last Friday, Valor College Prep had to suffer through a 74-47 loss at the hands of Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Hume-Fogg over Glencliff in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hume-Fogg blew Glencliff out of the water with a 76-27 final score. The Blue Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Hume-Fogg's win came from a few key players Valor College Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Miles Rucker, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 18 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Nwoye, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Hume-Fogg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Valor College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hume-Fogg, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Valor College Prep took a serious blow against Hume-Fogg in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 57-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hume-Fogg's Alonzo Rhodes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards.
