Merritt Island (Fla.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
Jensen Beach (Fla.), 28-0, on Saturday.
The Mustangs were up 7-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Nicholas Smith touchdown run in the second quarter.
Merritt Island expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. MI scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Smith to
Michael Owens.
With the win the Mustangs extended their winning streak to six games. Merritt Island defeated the Bulldogs 37-13 last week.
MI's most effective player was Smith. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
The Mustangs went into the matchup giving up only 6.4 points per game. The Falcons' zero points were well below their season average of 15.6 per game.
The loss comes after Jensen Beach defeated Martin County 23-15 last week. The loss snapped Jensen Beach's 2-game winning streak.
