Softball Recap: South Dade Sets Scoring Season-High Against Homestead

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Dade). They were the clear victors by a 23-7 margin over the Homestead Broncos on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Buccaneers as they're now sitting on five straight.

South Dade got a massive performance out of K. Orta, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Orta a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was A. Tomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

South Dade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in six consecutive contests.

South Dade pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Homestead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Coincidentally, South Dade and Homestead will both be playing Varela the next time they take the field. The Broncos will host the Vipers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Buccaneers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
