Softball Game Preview: Bonsall Legionnaires vs. Bayfront Charter Sharks

The Bonsall Legionnaires are taking a road trip to take on the Bayfront Charter Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bayfront Charter took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Bonsall, who comes in off a win.

Bonsall came out on top against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Legionnaires blew past the Cobras 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Legionnaires, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maddison Trujillo was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Trujillo was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Bonsall got a massive performance out of Diamond Nava, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Nava continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lily Winebrenner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Bayfront Charter played against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter last Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Bonsall pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bayfront Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
