Baseball Recap: Escalon Comes Up Short

The Escalon Cougars came up short against the Bear Creek Bruins on Thursday, falling 11-1.

Escalon got a good showing from Zach Wells, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Wells a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Escalon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Abbott, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Escalon's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Bear Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Escalon will square off against Hughson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bear Creek, they will take on Weston Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
