Marcos de Niza had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks a 14-0 shutout. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Padres were the (much) better team in the second half.

Marcos de Niza didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jakaela McCoy and Naray Watkins.

Marcos de Niza's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Desert Sunrise, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Marcos de Niza will venture away from home to square off against Westview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Desert Sunrise, they will head out to challenge Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
