Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Comes Up Short

Sheboygan South extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 38 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They lost 21-0 to the Ashwaubenon Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 back in April.

As for Ashwaubenon, their win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Ashwaubenon's part, Grace Aichele made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Aichele has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Peyton Crutcher was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Gianna Guarascio was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Sheboygan South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-3 loss against Sheboygan North on the 9th. As for Ashwaubenon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-4 win against Manitowoc Lincoln on the 9th.
