Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Marriotts Ridge

The Centennial Eagles will face off against Marriotts Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Centennial faced off against Winters Mill back in December of 2024. Centennial blew past Winters Mill 62-41.

Meanwhile, Marriotts Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Howard 73-69.

Centennial will have to keep a close watch on Aaron Hammann and Restia Whitaker, a pair of players who had a big impact on Marriotts Ridge's prior game. Hammann went 8 of 13 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds, while Whitaker almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Hammann is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Tatarov, who posted eight points.

Marriotts Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Centennial, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Centennial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Marriotts Ridge in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 72-66 victory. Will Centennial repeat their success, or does Marriotts Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
