Baseball Game Preview: Redwood Giants vs. Marin Catholic Wildcats

For the second straight game, Redwood will face off against Marin Catholic. The Giants will take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Marin Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Redwood got the win against Marin Catholic by a conclusive 8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Giants have posted against the Wildcats since March 25, 2022.

Jack Moseley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Theo Trono was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Miles Harrison was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Redwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Marin Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Redwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Marin Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts.
