Basketball Recap: Sawyer Middendorf Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Petra Academy

Billings Christian won the last time they faced Petra Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Billings Christian Warriors enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over Petra Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Billings Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sawyer Middendorf out in front who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Koen Casterline, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Billings Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Billings Christian pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Petra Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Billings Christian and Gardiner will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Petra Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Foothills Community Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
