Basketball Game Preview: Northside Grizzlies vs. Springdale Bulldogs

Northside is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Springdale is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Northside Grizzlies will welcome the Springdale Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.

Northside is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Douglass, who was ranked eighth in their home state at the time (Northside was ranked third). Northside fell just short of Douglass by a score of 54-51 on Saturday. The Grizzlies' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Despite their loss, Northside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Camryn Schmidt, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards, was perhaps the best of all. Schmidt is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazley Grotjohn, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Springdale didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Little Rock Christian Academy on Monday, but they still walked away with a 75-70 victory.

Northside's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Springdale, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Northside beat Springdale 48-41 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Northside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
