Baseball Recap: St. Francis Drops Highest Score of Season Against Kenosha Christian Life

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Francis). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kenosha Christian Life Eagles a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Tyler Budzien was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. St. Francis is 2-1 when Budzien posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Isaiah Gutierrez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wuerl, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

St. Francis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got St. Francis back to even at 6-6. As for Kenosha Christian Life, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

St. Francis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
