Softball Game Preview: Cooper City Cowboys vs. St. Cloud Bulldogs

The Cooper City Cowboys will take on the St. Cloud Bulldogs in a tournament on Thursday. Cooper City will be strutting in after a victory while St. Cloud will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Cooper City needed a bit of extra time to put away Fort Lauderdale. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Flying L's. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Flying L's: they've now won three in a row.

Grace Dominguez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, Rylee Hedden was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Danica McKeehan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Cloud came up short against The First Academy on Wednesday and fell 6-1. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Royals: they've now lost four in a row.

St. Cloud's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Cooper City, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Cooper City skirted past St. Cloud 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
