Baseball Recap: Farragut Wins Going Away Against Chicago Academy

While Farragut put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Chicago Academy. The Admirals put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 15-0 win. The Admirals have beaten the Cougars the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Alex Barrera and Freddy Garcia were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Barrera pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Barrera got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Garcia went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Barrera has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Ben DeMateo was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Farragut is 7-1 when DeMateo posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Yoel Guerra was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Farragut's record is now 9-5. As for Chicago Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
