Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Black Comes Up Short

IMG Academy Black fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Inspiration Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-3. That makes it the first time this season the Ascenders have let down their home crowd.

Arnie Wu was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Frankie Thomas was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Juan Kranwinkel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for IMG Academy Black and nudges their season record down to 16-4. As for Inspiration Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

IMG Academy Black has already played their next contest, a 7-1 win against Hollins on the 8th. Inspiration Academy has also already played their next match (against Sunshine State Elite Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
