Volleyball Recap: Armando Zapata and Alik Torchilo Secure Win for University

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Moore, University was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Colonial Grenadiers by a score of 3-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Grenadiers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

University had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.

Leading University to victory were Alik Torchilo and Armando Zapata. Torchilo had seven kills, four aces, three digs, and one block, while Zapata had five kills and two aces. That's the most kills Torchilo has posted over his last three contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Tremaine, who had seven kills and seven blocks.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-15. As for Colonial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

University has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Oak Ridge on the 17th. Colonial has also already played their next contest (against Jones), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
