Hillsboro had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Herington on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Railroaders a 10-0 shutout. The Trojans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 19-5).
Abby Beavers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Brooklyn Thiessen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Hillsboro's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Herington, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Hillsboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-1 defeat against Halstead on the 17th. As for Herington, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Moundridge at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
