Softball Recap: Tampa Catholic's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Tampa Catholic hadn't done well against Academy of the Holy Names recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Tampa Catholic Crusaders walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars. The win was some much needed relief for the Crusaders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Olivia Ricciardi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Josslynn Grimsley was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lillie Bridges, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Tampa Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Academy of the Holy Names, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tampa Catholic will take on Academy of the Holy Names at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Academy of the Holy Names, they will be playing at home against Clearwater Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
