Soccer Game Preview: Royal vs. Burroughs

The Royal Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Burroughs Bears at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Royal's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Friday, Royal might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Moorpark an easy 5-1 win. While losing is never fun, Royal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 819th, while Moorpark are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, Burroughs fell victim to Hoover and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 5-0 to the Tornados.

Burroughs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Royal, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.

Royal took their victory against Burroughs in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
