Basketball Recap: St. Joseph's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

St. Joseph came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 57-51 win over the Environmental Charter Hawks on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-38 back in December of 2024.

Leading St. Joseph to victory were Ben Bartolovic and Gabe Maltese. Bartolovic posted 19 points, while Maltese put up 17 points. John Marino was another key player, putting up eight points.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tobias Howard, who had 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerard Williams, who earned ten points.

St. Joseph's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for Environmental Charter, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

St. Joseph will square off against Geibel Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Geibel Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully St. Joseph likes a good challenge. Environmental Charter has already played their next game (against Neighborhood Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
