Soccer Game Preview: Lunenburg Central vs. Prince Edward County

The Lunenburg Central Chargers will face off against the Prince Edward County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lunenburg Central will be strutting in after a win while Prince Edward County will be coming in after a defeat.

Lunenburg Central's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over Buckingham. The victory continues a trend for Lunenburg Central in their matchups with Buckingham: they've now won five in a row.

Lunenburg Central hit Buckingham with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Riley Hawthorne (2), Kevin Niz-Chilel, Yeferson Ramirez Reynoso, and Luis Mendoza-Cruz.

Meanwhile, Prince Edward County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Nelson County, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Prince Edward County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Nelson County are ranked 41st).

Lunenburg Central pushed their record up to 3-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three contests. As for Prince Edward County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Lunenburg Central beat Prince Edward County 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
