Volleyball Recap: Hamilton Southeastern Falls Despite Big Games from Maggie Sliwa and Maye Mcconnell

Hamilton Southeastern entered their contest against Plainfield on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Royals fell just short of the Quakers by a score of 2-1. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Quakers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Hamilton Southeastern started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Hamilton Southeastern's loss came despite strong showings from Maye Mcconnell and Maggie Sliwa. Mcconnell had ten digs and four assists, while Sliwa had six assists and three digs. Mcconnell has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. Mia Walpole also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Taylor Donovan, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last seven matchups.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 15-2. As for Plainfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Hamilton Southeastern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Fishers on the 20th. As for Plainfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against New Castle on the 20th.
