Softball Recap: Jasper Victorious

It's playoff time, and Jasper had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils on Monday by a score of 9-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Brooklyn Butler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lexi Kilgore, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Emersyn Haney was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Jasper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Jasper's win bumped their record up to 20-16. As for Mortimer Jordan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-23-2.

Coincidentally, Jasper and Mortimer Jordan will both be playing Cullman the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Blue Devils will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
