Football Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short

Oak Grove extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 20-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clinton Cardinals. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oak Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Waylon Weir picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Clinton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The 20-point effort marked their lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The critical scores for Clinton came from Connor Bramell, Payton Goth, and Quintin Faught.

Oak Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-8 victory against Center on the 3rd. As for Clinton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 61-0 win against Pleasant Hope/Halfway on the 3rd.
