Preview: Bethany Christian Bruins vs. Hamilton Marines
Bethany Christian is 7-1 against Hamilton since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bethany Christian Bruins' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hamilton Marines at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Bethany Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
Last Friday, Bethany Christian didn't have too much trouble with Trinity on the road as they won 38-19. Given Bethany Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Trinity is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Zoe Willems, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Leyna Borgmann was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Hamilton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 46-7 loss at the hands of South Bend Clay. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hamilton has scored all season.
Bethany Christian's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-7. As for Hamilton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Bethany Christian took their win against Hamilton when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 51-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bethany Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
