Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Bison vs. Edina Hornets

Buffalo hasn't had much luck against Edina recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bison are taking a road trip to square off against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Buffalo's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Edina's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Eden Prairie hit Buffalo with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bison fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5.

AIDEN MARCONETT put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, ISAAC HILL was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Edina unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 16-4 to Robbinsdale Armstrong. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered since May 27, 2024.

Edina saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Bjorgaard, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Jackson McGrath was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Buffalo's record is now 4-3. As for Edina, their record now sits at 4-3-1.

Buffalo might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Edina in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
