Basketball Recap: Perry County Piles Up the Points Against Hughes

Perry County played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They breezed by the Hughes Lions to the tune of 53-21. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-11.

It was another big night for Kaylee Byrd, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Bell Warren, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Perry County now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Hughes, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Perry County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-27 defeat against Summertown on the 28th. Hughes has also already played their next match, a 44-39 win against Mt. Pleasant on the 25th.
