Volleyball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Takes a Loss

If New Smyrna Beach was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Viera on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. New Smyrna Beach came up short against Beachside on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to New Smyrna Beach of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-15, 25-8.

New Smyrna Beach's offense was headlined by Bailey Jones and Savannah Toler, who picked up three kills apiece. They were helped by Teagan Lux and Jasmine Mahoney, who contributed four assists each.

Isabella Taveras Seda was nothing short of spectacular for Beachside: she had 21 digs and one assist. Taveras Seda is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season.

New Smyrna Beach now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Beachside, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Smyrna Beach will take on Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beachside, they will square off against Ponte Vedra at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Barracudas' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
