Basketball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Mead Mavericks

Silver Creek is 1-9 against Mead since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Silver Creek Raptors will host the Mead Mavericks at 5:30 p.m.

Silver Creek is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Erie, falling 63-18. The Raptors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-7.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mead, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Legacy 53-50. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Lightning are ranked 111th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Madi Clark and Olivia Mortensen. Clark had a solid game and went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points. Meanwhile, Mortensen was balling out in the loss, going 11 for 20 on her way to 33 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Silver Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mead, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
