Volleyball Recap: Summit Comes Up Short

Summit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Glenwood Springs Demons, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Thursday.

While Summit was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.

Zoie Davis-Teets paced Summit's offense, picking up six kills. Davis-Teets were helped by Reese Melby and Taylor Wagner, who contributed five assists each. Melby was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Glenwood Springs can attribute much of their success to Gianna Zambrano, who had 11 digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Zambrano a new career-high in assists (six).

Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Glenwood Springs, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2.

Summit has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Eagle Valley on the 28th. As for Glenwood Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Battle Mountain on the 28th.
