Caldera will face off against the Mountain View Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Caldera is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Caldera is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Ridgeview just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Caldera has suffered since May 24, 2024.
Elle Morton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliotte Preston, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Mountain View got themselves on the board against Summit on Tuesday, but Summit never followed suit. They blew past the Storm 13-0. Considering the Cougars have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cadence Kennedy was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kallie Eckman, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain View now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Caldera, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Caldera hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Caldera took their win against Mountain View in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 18-7 score. Will Caldera repeat their success, or does Mountain View has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
