Basketball Recap: Terrell County Falls to Monroe in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Terrell County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes on Tuesday, falling 80-37. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-22.

When it comes to explaining why Terrell County lost, don't look at Dominique Polite. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Chavious Grier, who had eight points.

Brayden Burns produced another solid effort going 8-for-13 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals for Monroe. Burns has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Elijah Rivers was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 13 points.

Monroe's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Terrell County will host Miller County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monroe, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
