Volleyball Recap: Richardson Eagles vs. Berkner Rams

Richardson was the 3-0 winner over Berkner when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Richardson Eagles fell just short of the Berkner Rams by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Richardson wouldn't go down easily and took Berkner into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9.

Mackenzie Ratcliff paced Richardson's offense, picking up 23 kills. Ratcliff got some help from Mariajose Cordero and her 33 assists. Kaitlyn Norton controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Berkner's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madison Branch, who had seven aces and four digs. That's the most aces Branch has posted since back in September.

Richardson's loss dropped their record down to 14-19. As for Berkner, their record is now 16-18-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Irving the next time they take the court. Berkner will host Irving at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Richardson will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
