Volleyball Game Preview: Rampart Rams vs. Lutheran Lions

The Rampart Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Lutheran Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Rampart is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Discovery Canyon, who was ranked 13th at the time (Rampart was ranked 24th). The Rams took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunder on Thursday. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

While Rampart had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Rampart had strong showings from Keaton Klich, who had 15 digs and four assists, and Brady Simonis, who had 16 kills and nine digs. Simonis is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last eight games he's played.

Meanwhile, Lutheran beat Mesa Ridge 3-1 on Thursday.

Lutheran had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-18.

Rampart's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
