Baseball Recap: St. Vincent de Paul Takes a Loss

St. Vincent de Paul had lost eight straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Piner Prospectors by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Prospectors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-7 on April 2nd.

Jacob Troy was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

As for Piner, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against St. Vincent de Paul since April 26, 2023.

On Piner's side, Kellan Stiles was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Stiles is becoming a predictor of the Prospectors' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 3-11 when he doesn't). Tyler Coester was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Piner beat St. Vincent de Paul by a score of 8-1 on Friday.
